Newtown Twinning Association Annual Social:
On the 22nd July 2018: Newtown Twinning Association will be holding A Social afternoon / evening for all our friends, members, hosts and supporters. Normally we have a Pique nique dan le parc, however this year we are going up market! We will be holding our social in Penstrowed Parish Hall, which provides us with some great facilities such as a large hall, stage, kitchen, toilets, parking and outdoor BBQ facility.
Our social starts at 2.00pm in the afternoon and we hope to continue to 7.00pm in the evening. Our social is a ‘bring and share’ event, so you are welcome to bring your own prepared food and food that you can cook on the BBQ along with your own drinks. We will be selling a range of very reasonable French wines from a vineyard in the Loire valley, Domaine du Moulin Giron.
We also have Cafe style music on the accordion, very kindly provided by Geoff Beilby. We look forward to a great afternoon and an opportunity to answer some questions you may have regarding our forthcoming Chrono Trip in October.
You don’t have to book for our social, however, if you are able to attend we would ask that you send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org just to provide us with some idea of numbers attending.
The Comite de jumelage du Pays des Herbiers are already planning a return to our September 2018 Food Festival with a greater variety and quantity of produce, along with many other new ideas to enrich our festival.
Watch this space for the returning FRENCH VILLAGE.

From the 10th October 2018 to 16th Oct 2018:

We have been invited by the Chrono committee to be the Guest of Honour at the Chrono Fair event (This is a large scale fair with different foods from France, wines and tasting, commercial and Agricultural fair with music). This is a great opportunity for Newtown and Twinning, as it involves the offer of a free trade stand to be used by Newtown Twinning Association for the period of the Fair so as to sell and promote a range of Newtown and Welsh produce, a mention of local Welsh Beer was made along with other products!
Of special interest to Newtown cyclists: The Chrono committee are also very keen for Hafren Cycle Club members to return to take part in the 37th Chrono des Nations on the Sunday 14th October and the 20th Randonnee du Chrono La Walter Beneteau held on the Saturday 13th Oct 2018. We are looking forward to helping HCC with the organisation of their visit. We understand that 2018 could see the greatest number of HCC participants in this famous international cycle race!
A request to local Musicians and choirs: The Chrono committee have also asked us if we can arrange for some Welsh musicians to visit for the event to add to the Welsh presence as Guest of Honour.
Newtown Tennis club members: Please note that we are trying to develop stronger links between Newtown and Les Herbiers clubs. If you are keen to visit Les Herbiers to play Tennis in our Twin Town then this is a great opportunity.
