French Dining

What a fab meal prepared for by our two gorgeous french students. Have to say how many British 17 year olds would make a salad of dressed lettuce, let alone baked goats cheese on baguette slices..so yummy. Bon Voyage for tomorrow’s journey home.

Celebrating Enzo’s 18th Birthday

Enzo, Thibaut and Axel celebrated Enzo’s birthday with Paul Harry Andrew and Alwena, Paul Harry providing the Birthday cake!

Evening with students, family and business hosts

Fantastic evening with students, family and business hosts. Good company, lovely food & drink & a few games of pool to round it all off. Newtown Twinning would like to thank everyone for coming along to mark what has been a successful Erasmus trip.  Many thanks to the Dolau Inn for our great evening!

The High Street Deli and Maeva

Newtown Twinning Association is very grateful to Barrie and Jojo at The High Street Delicatessen for providing such an outstanding works experience for Maeva during her visit to Newtown.  I’m certain she will return to Les Herbiers our Twin Town with so many fantastic experiences and many new skills!  Merci beaucoup Barrie and Jojo!  What a wonderful story from a super student and excellent business placement.

Visit to Aberystwyth

Our French students visited Aberystwyth with us on Sunday. Fortunately the weather was fine.  However nothing to compare with Les Herbiers at 25 deg!  A great day with a coffee stop at Bwlch Nant yr Arian en route.

Visit to NPTC Newtown College

Monday was a day at leisure for our French students.  We started with a visit to NPTC Newtown to meet up with Welsh students of their own age who are following the BTEC Business course.  A very successful visit with students exchanging contact details and an opportunity to practice language skills with the help of Google Translate!   Many thanks to Steve Cass and Amanda Disley for organising our morning visit which ended with a guided tour of the college campus.

The afternoon was an opportunity for shopping and lunch at Coed y Dinas and finishing with a short walk in Montgomery up to the Castle with a little bit of our local history added!

A sad goodbye

Newtown Twinning Association saying a sad au revoir to all our French Erasmus Students at Newtown Station on this beautiful morning.  A great two weeks with good weather throughout, unlike last year’s snow conditions!   Have a safe journey, hope to see you all in Les Herbiers.  Bon Voyage.
