We in Newtown Twinning Association are looking forward to welcoming our French friends from Les  Herbiers to our Food Festival for the fourth time this year.  Hopefully no high winds and rain, with the weather looking promising for the Festival.

This year we are BIGGER AND BETTER in our French Village with the Les Herbiers FRENCH MARKET  bringing more French products with a greater variety and choice such as regional wines and aperitifs; brioche; pâté; saucisson;  vinegars and sea salt with herbs and cheeses and more!!

Try something special at Newtown Food Festival!  Visit The French Village to taste and buy Wolfberger Alsace wines of the finest quality. The Wolfberger Winery is one of the biggest players in French winemaking, due to its size and level of activity.  See you in The French Village.

Newtown Twinning Association will be selling wine by the glass in The French Village.  Wines from the Domaine du Moulin Grion, in the Loire Valley, close to Les Herbiers.  Cabernet Anjou Rouge: Cabernet Merlot; Cabernet d’Anjou and Chardonnay. All amazing value.  Come and visit us in The French Village to discuss what we are doing in Newtown.

Newtown Twinning Association supports local businesses and has taken products from Newtown and Montgomeryshire to French Craft and Food markets to sell on their behalf.

The French Village will be supporting Newtopia and No1. High Street selling a small selection of Newtown Crafts in The French Village!  See you in The French Village.

Very many thanks to the Elephant and Castle Hotel for their continued support of the Newtown Food Festival and for hosting the Choirs Evening which our French Friends attended along with sponsoring the Newtown Food Festival.  Also many thanks to the Elephant and Castle from our French Friends for flying the Tricolour during their visit.  And finally many thanks again for the superb evening meal supplied by the Elephant and Castle for the Newtown Twinning Association Food Festival dinner.

Our French Friends from Les Herbiers visiting us for the 4th time to support our Newtown Food Festival attended a reception and welcome event on Thursday evening 31st Aug.  The event was held at Glanhafren in the excellent mezzanine thanks to the Mid Wales Food and Land Trust.

Many thanks to our new Mayor Sue Newham, who gave a welcome speech in English and French.  She was presented with a gift from the Mayor of Les Herbiers Veronique Besse.  Our Town Clerk Edward was very popular with our French friends for very kindly unveiling the French Tricolour on the Town Council offices for the weekend of Newtown Food Festival.

Newtown Twinning Association is very grateful for all the support it receives from its business sponsors and members in Newtown.  We had a fantastic weekend at the Food Festival where we met many people and representatives of different Newtown organisations and groups to discuss many future plans for the benefit of Newtown and its people.

Newtown Twinning Association support local business and we were selling products for Newtopia and No1. High Street Craft Shops during the Festival and managed to sell £70.00 of products.

An excellent report on page 8 of the County Times this week referring to our French visitors and what they contributed to the festival.

We also gained new members and new committee members and as a result have many more events now planned for the future.  We finished the last day with an exciting joint planning committee meeting between Newtown Twinning Association and Comité de jumelage du Pays des Herbiers.
