Le Pique Nique dans Le Parc
On Sunday, 10th of July, the Newtown Twinning Association held a picnic in Dolerw Park for members to enjoy, along with family and friends.
In a pleasant part of the park, next to the river, gazebos were erected and a barbecue lit. Sharing platters of home cooked food and several bottles of wine, helped the afternoon to pass very agreeably. Even a game or two of pétanques were played out across the grass, especially as an impressive number of people had turned up with a set of boules. The odd spate of drizzle did not dampen anybody’s spirits and the event was considered a big success.
The Association is now looking forward to Newtown Food Festival in September, when our twinning friends from Les Herbiers will be joining us for the third time. Future events between Newtown and Les Herbiers will involve local crafts, local produce, music and sport. We are very keen to encourage young people to take part: cultural exchanges are more important now than they have ever been.
